Discover how coaching (career, business, management, life, insert "x") can make your dreams a reality.
Since I've started my business in the coaching industry, I've been asked more times than I can count, what is it you actually do? Great question, I'd love to tell you!
Of course, I had heard of LIFE coaching as it was the buzz word - it seemed as though you couldn't be on Instagram or Facebook without seeing someone talking about the impacts of life coaching. But what did it take for me to become a Board Certified Coach? I first learned about management coaching at a (SHRM) Society of Human Resources Management Leadership Summit back in 2018, in Boston. It was a wonderful breakout session designed to help HR professionals understand the impact coaching has in a business setting. The experience for me was entirely life changing. In the fall of 2019 I decided to learn more about the practice and enrolled in a program that then led me to become certified.
The defined process of coaching is, coaches partnering with clients in a thought provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential - ICF (International Coaching Federation).
The idea of this process lit me up! I had already focused on this as an HR professional but missing the tools to apply it effectively. By working with a certified coach, individuals gain a clearer vision, improve performance, build confidence, communicate more effectively, make dreams a reality, and has an overall rippling effect across the organization. My favorite part of the coaching relationship is just that, its a relationship.
Here is how you can make your dreams a reality with a coach:
Clearer Vision - Crafting a vision for your life, career, or both is critical to make your dreams a reality. A popular tool coaches use is getting clients to envision their future. They will ask open ended questions to get you to truly envision your future. With a clear vision of your future, you have a picture in your mind of what you're aiming for.
Improves Performance - It is proven that by working with a coach, employee performance improves. With guided momentum and accountability, clients will begin to believe in the progress and their "why" and that will drive overall performance. The best part...when a manager is coached, departmental performance improves!
Builds Confidence - Client confidence goes through the roof when working with a coach. Why? Because a coach is often referred to as a cheerleader - better yet, a personal cheerleader! So, when you win, your coach celebrates with you. When you lose, your coach builds you up to win the next time. You begin to see your failures as opportunities to win in the future.
Communicates Effectively - Communication is the key to any successful relationship. Coaching encourage open, safe, and rewarding dialogue that can later be applied in the workplace. With specific tools, clients learn how to communicate to get the desired outcome.
Rippling Effect - Coaching has a rippling effect! Clients see the fruits of working with a coach when they start to see how their newly founded behaviors impact others around them. Whether it is at home or in the workplace.
"The difference between your dreams and reality is called ACTION."
The definition I like to use for coaching is, the process of reaching goals through action steps and creating accountability. Action is the key! Dreams continue to be dreams until you put together an action plan, then you are reaching toward your goals!
